Every binder needs dividers that match how the family thinks about their holdings — not how a spreadsheet would sort them.
Common Category Sets
For a typical Gwangju household with one apartment and one vehicle, we use five dividers:
- Property — registry extracts, purchase contracts, mortgage discharge
- Vehicles — registration, insurance, inspection certificates
- Insurance — life, health, property policies not tied to a specific asset
- Valuables — bullion receipts, collectible certificates, appraisal reports
- Custody — safe deposit box agreements, key locations, power of attorney
When Holdings Spread Across Cities
Families with property in Gwangju and farmland in Naju need geographic dividers, not just asset-type dividers. We might create:
- Gwangju Apartment (Seo-gu)
- Naju Farmland Lease
- Seoul Safe Deposit (bullion)
Each section gets its own index page noting the physical storage location of originals.
The Mistake We See Most Often
Clients want one divider called “Important Documents.” Within six months, everything important ends up there and nothing is findable. Specific categories take longer to set up but save hours later.
Our Recommendation
Before your session, list every asset you can name. Do not sort them — just list. We will propose divider names during the first hour of your visit.
